Fountains

The fountains in Queen Square are working again after their winter rest.

Rainy Morning

It rained during the night, first rain for over a week, so everything is looking fresh and green.

Ring road Tramp

Cherry tree on the ring road. It was on the central reservation, in this area, that an elderly man 'Fred' lived in a tent for many years.

There's a larger number of Police in the city centre these days probably due to a general election and visits from various politicians. 

Water Feature

The fountains in Queen square are being prepared for the summer.

The flag flies high on St. Peter's tower.

Planting

Winter bedding is being removed to make way for the summer display.

April

Cloudless blue sky, lovely warm days and everything greening up. What's not to like about this April? ( Well, I could do with a little rain to water my newly planted perennials, never satisfied am I?)

Another part of Penn churchyard. My grandparents are buried in this corner.

Unwelcome Visitor

Squirrels and Wood pigeons are a pest on the bird table, clearing it in a matter of minutes. I chase them away to give the small birds the chance of a meal.

Sign of Spring

Another sign of warmer weather, icecream being sold in Dudley street.

Leafy

The trees are starting to green up now after several warm days and more blossom is coming out. This was Waitrose car park this morning.

Camellia

The camellia in my garden is looking good this spring.

Tall

This building in Dudley street seems to have outgrown its neighbours.

Birches Farmhouse

All that remains of Birches farm, the land being sold off in the 1920s for a housing estate.

Bargains

Yet another Pound shop has opened on Dudley street. This one is a bit different as it seems to be selling only hats and accessories. Seems to be popular though.

Robin

Robin on the bird table. I think they may be feeding young as they are going off with beaks full of food.

Sunny Saturday morning in April. The sun may be shining but still no leaves on the trees.

Reflections

Reflections in my garden pond. Lots of frog spawn on the left although the frogs have departed to where ever they spend the rest of the year.
