Empty Shops
Sad sight, row of four empty shops in the Mander centre. However a large refurbishment of the shopping centre is on the cards, so this may be part of the reason.

Walls like this one on Goldthorn Hill, are common in the area. They are not built from stone but clinker from blast furnaces.

The Verger's Grave
This grave in St. Bart's churchyard was reserved by the verger for himself, and later his wife. He wanted to be buried in a prominent position, near the path. I remember seeing the unoccupied spot when visiting my grandparents grave.

Penn Road Shops
Usual variety of shops, newsagent, butcher, grocer etc. but for some reason three undertakers, possibly because of several elderly care homes locally.

Half Timbered
Another view of the 17c building in Victoria street. Over the years has had various uses, restaurant, baby wear, and at present is a second hand book shop.

The date on this old building in Victoria street is deceptive as it actually dates from the beginning of the 17C.

These plaques on Lloyds bank in Queen square show how Wolverhampton changed during the industrial revolution from a rural comunity
