This green woodpecker visited my front lawn this morning. It is obviously making a good meal of the ants as it was there for about 15 minutes,

Gates

The gates and railings around West park are the original Victorian ones. It is surprising that they survived WW2 as most of the other metal railings in the city were taken to be melted down for the war effort.

Clock

The clock in  West park was presented by councillor John Ross in 1883. He was a scot, which explains why the finials are in the shape of thistles. At one time each face showed a different time but this has now been corrected and all show the same time.
